A lawyer graduated from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, (class of 1974). He later conducted Post-Graduate studies in Tax Law at the Universidad Central de Venezuela (1975-1978).

He is a former President of the Tax Committee of the Venezuelan-American Chamber of Commerce & Industry (VenAmCham). He is currently a member of the Venezuelan Tax-Law Association and of the International Fiscal Association He is a founding partner of Torres, Plaz & Araujo.
